If we use the same quirky details as the next writer, then the details really aren't that quirky. We need to find ways to make our characters truly unique.

Mary- I like the Thing too. Pretty funny.

Maggie, I haven't read your novel but I need to. We all love the character who is able to overcome overwhelming odds to succeed in battle, love, whatever. If it's no great feat, why would I care to read it. Great point.Steve Westoverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14281628136635926941noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5081495104887328782.post-81009902574336875832011-03-09T16:47:39.198-08:002011-03-09T16:47:39.198-08:00Great point. There are very few people in the world with Hollywood looks, but that doesn't mean the rest of us can't have amazing happiness and amazing love stories!Maggiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17017081528751539437noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5081495104887328782.post-3645876565268202292011-03-09T16:01:00.833-08:002011-03-09T16:01:00.833-08:00I love the character "The Thing" played ...I love the character "The Thing" played by Michael Chiklis in the "Fantastic Four". It boils down to quirks that make a character interesting. I especially like quirks or characteristics that are ones I don't expect. For example, Tamara Heiner's book, Perilous, has a detective who is always eating pickles. Because that isn't a typical quirk, it draws me in.Rebecca Blevinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09378726097105313400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5081495104887328782.post-48856454468642544512011-03-09T14:55:52.535-08:002011-03-09T14:55:52.535-08:00I LOVE Guerrero! He has a hilarious personality and a dry sense of humor, but he's thorough and gets the job done. He's a stud:-)Jewel's Gemshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13285251041936115913noreply@blogger.com
